Dual-mode operation offers the added benefit of integrating a solar thermal system for domestic hot water (DHW) heating. This is a particularly economical and environmentally friendly option, with one of the two coils fully heated by solar collectors, while the other is activated only when needed. For the specific needs of commercial and industrial applications, Viessmann also offers additional options to optimize DHW heating.
The Vitotrans heat exchanger balances peak load times. In the hotel and restaurant sector, this is the time when particularly large amounts of water are drawn. Using our sophisticated, tried-and-tested cylinder loading system, we draw more hot water than the system can heat at that time. This ensures the water volume and temperature meet all requirements. The Viessmann Vitocell 100-L floor-standing DHW cylinder is the ideal model for use with the Vitotrans. When paired with an additional heat exchanger, it is particularly suitable for heating systems using condensing technology.
If required, the Vitocell 100-V can be cascaded with other DHW cylinders to form a cylinder bank. Ideal for companies and businesses committed to sustainability, the Vitocell 100-V is particularly suitable for combination with a heat generator using renewable energy sources, such as a heat pump.
Vitocell 340-M
If the demand for hot water is high or highly variable at different times of the day or night, it's important to ensure an adequate supply of hot water. Buffer cylinders are a type of indirect hot water supply system. They utilize the thermal energy already available during operation to generate hot water and store it for later use. The advantage: a heating system with a built-in buffer cylinder requires less work. The heat generator can remain off even when hot water is needed, resulting in reduced energy consumption.
Using Viessmann hot water buffer cylinders in industrial and commercial settings offers numerous advantages. These include large cylinder volumes, numerous options for combining with renewable systems, and special features such as the Vitotrans 353 freshwater module or the stratification function. For commercial and industrial applications, it makes sense to use a water heating buffer tank in a multi-mode system, like the Vitocell 340-M and 360-M models. They can be connected to other heat generators, as well as to a solar thermal system. This connection can be accomplished without the need for separate heat exchangers. Our Vitocell 360-M, which is available in cylinder capacities starting from 750 liters, also features a stratification system that layers solar energy at different temperatures. This allows for rapid solar-heated hot water production.

Viessmann hot water cylinders and heating water buffer cylinders require no coating and, thanks to their chemical properties, guarantee long-term corrosion protection. They are manufactured from enameled steel or stainless steel in accordance with EN 12897. This is because hygiene standards are particularly important when storing domestic hot water. In this regard, the hot water cylinders with Ceraprotect enamel coating deserve special mention.
