Vitocal 222-S – Compact Split Air Source Heat Pumps for New Construction and Retrofit Projects with Integrated DHW Cylinder

The Vitocal 222-S split heat pump ensures the environmentally responsible and cost-effective use of latent heat from the outside air. It can be used either for heating alone or for heating and cooling.

The Vitocal 222-S is one of the quietest appliances of its kind. Thanks to the advanced acoustic design, the sound pressure level in night mode is only 35 dB(A) at a distance of three meters. This means that the legal requirements of TA Läärm (German Noise Reduction Regulations), according to which only 35 dB(A) can be heard when heat pumps are running in neighbouring houses, can be met even in areas with dense terraced buildings.

These new outdoor units in their timeless design are very simple to look at. These devices with one or two fans are designed and manufactured in-house. In addition to extremely quiet operation, they have very good performance, excellent finishes and excellent product quality.

In the outdoor units of the new heat pumps, variable speed scroll compressors and asymmetrical heat exchangers ensure high efficiency. A feature of these heat exchangers is a significantly larger cross-section of the channels on the water side than on the refrigerant side. In this way, heat transfer is increased and the energy consumption of the circulator pump is reduced.

Compact indoor units with low noise levels can be installed in the immediate vicinity of living spaces. All key components for heating or cooling the building are integrated. The outdoor unit is pre-charged with refrigerant. This allows for simple, fast and compact installation. For refrigerant piping with a small cross-section, only small openings in the wall are required.

Several key components contribute to increased efficiency. These include a variable speed scroll compressor, an asymmetrical plate heat exchanger, and a corrugated fin air evaporator.

The compact Vitocal 222-S heat pump offers a high level of DHW convenience thanks to its 212-litre enamelled DHW cylinder, which is heated by an internal indirect heat exchanger.

Efficient and compact control center for building engineering systems for heating, cooling, hot water heating and ventilation

A large number of output parameters and configuration options for the combined system consisting of Vitocal 222-S and a mechanical ventilation unit Vitovent 300-F make it possible to tailor the building control center to the energy needs of the building, making this combination of systems particularly suitable for new construction. Thanks to its modular design and a large number of pre-installed components, this system combination is easy to install, which reduces installation costs.

Vitotronic control unit with WiFi option

The control unit is simple and intuitive to operate. If the heat pump is combined with a Vitovent 300-W or Vitovent 300-F central mechanical ventilation unit, both units can be controlled via the Vitotronic 200 control unit.

With the Vitoconnect internet interface (accessory) and the free ViCare app, remote control via smartphone is possible. In addition, with the user’s consent, the system can be monitored online by the contractor using the ViGuide software.
