Waste heat boilers use the heat from hot flue gases generated by fuel combustion or hot exhaust air from industrial processes to produce saturated steam or hot water. Thus, their use significantly reduces ongoing operating costs because less or no fossil fuels are required. Thanks to their individual design, the waste heat boilers can be used flexibly in the industrial, commercial or municipal sectors. Thanks to their individual design, Vitomax waste heat boilers guarantee environmentally friendly heat and steam production, while they are very economical and ensure high security of supply.
You can choose boilers with or without assisted fuel combustion. Vitomax boilers with additional fuel combustion are our traditional boilers with a burner and waste heat recovery. In steam or hot water versions, they are suitable for burning 100% hydrogen under appropriate conditions of use. Boilers without auxiliary combustion use only flue gases or exhaust air streams to produce hot water or saturated steam. These Vitomax boilers are only available in design versions. Vitomax HRSGs are also often used in combination with gas turbines or cogeneration units and are therefore ideal for more complex energy concepts.
Vitomax waste heat boilers are traditional fire tube boilers for the production of domestic hot water (safety temperature TS 110 °C) or saturated superheated steam. Thanks to their design, these products, which have been tested thousands of times, offer ideal conditions for the clean combustion of fossil or biogenic fuels. Versions with low NOx levels already in normal operation significantly reduce the requirements of BImschV.
In addition, Vitomax low-pressure hot water boilers are equipped with a flue gas/water heat exchanger (as an option). This increases the efficiency of the boilers to more than 95.5 percent.
In principle, Vitomax LW boilers can run on natural gas as well as light or heavy fuel oil. Whether in retrofit or new construction projects, Vitomax is characterised by flexible application options in industry, in the manufacturing sector and in municipal local and district heating. This proven, reliable technology is not only suitable for retrofit projects with just-in-time heat supply, but also for new construction projects in the commercial, industrial and municipal sectors. In any situation, Viessmann Vitomax industrial/commercial boilers offer a high level of engineering and design confidence.

The Vitomax product range also includes high-pressure hot water boilers and steam boilers. When used with a heat exchanger, their efficiency reaches more than 95.5 percent. These hot water boilers produce up to 20 megawatts of power at a pressure of 6 to 20 bar and a flow temperature of more than 110 degrees Celsius. These steam boilers exhibit impressive performance with saturated steam from 0.5 to 31.5 t/h and pressure stages from 0.5 to 30 bar. Both versions are suitable for light and heavy fuel oil, bio oil, natural gas and biogas. Flexible application options also apply to both variants. Vitomax high-pressure hot water boilers are mainly used in the manufacturing industry, as well as in local and district heating networks. The performance of these steam boilers is also well established in the manufacturing industry, as well as in hospitals and refineries.
System solutions for cost-effective steam generation
Electric boilers can be used both in all-electric mode and in a hybrid version that combines pressure-jet burners and electric heating cartridges. Both options use surplus electricity or renewable energy sources. In this way, peaks in electricity production, for example when there are low tariffs in the electricity market, can be used in an environmentally and economically beneficial way. Likewise, with the help of these boilers, companies have the opportunity to economically use the electricity generated by their own resources. In all cases,CO2 emissions can be significantly reduced. In purely electrically driven boilers - Vitomax HS-E and Vitomax HW-E/LW-E - there are no emissions at all. Their capacity ranges from 0.5 to 5.0 t/h and from 0.45 to 4.5 MW. The production of electric steam and heat with a hybrid boiler combining Vitomax HS-EH and Vitomax HW-EH/LW-EH provides not only clean and energy-saving energy, but also an additional, high level of both operational reliability and the availability of steam and hot water. These hybrid boilers provide power from: 1.2 - 8.4 t/h and about 0.8 - 5.6 MW.
