Viessmann Vitocal heat pumps for commercial and industrial applications make use of free energy from the environment. For commercial and industrial applications, Viessmann offers brine/water heat pumps, air-source heat pumps, and large heat pumps . Ice energy storage systems are also available. Brine/water heat pumps use the ground as an energy source through geothermal collectors or probes, while air-source heat pumps use solar-heated outdoor air or waste heat as their primary energy source. Wood biomass is a virtually carbon-neutral energy source, as its production only emits the amount of CO2 consumed by the tree during its growth. For example, Viessmann oil condensing boilers are available with rated outputs of up to 545 kilowatts, and low-temperature oil boilers with outputs of up to 2,000 kilowatts. Oil condensing boilers operate particularly efficiently by harnessing the energy stored in hot gases that would otherwise escape up the chimney. Recovering this additional heat over the long term benefits the environment and reduces operating costs by using less fossil fuel. Low-temperature oil boilers are particularly reliable in applications with high heat demand. Their sectional design also allows for use in confined spaces and generally facilitates maneuverability.
