The Vitocal 100-S split air-source heat pump consists of two separate units. The outdoor unit extracts heat from the ambient air through the evaporator using refrigerant, which is then brought to the required heating temperature by the compressor. The heat is transported through a pipe to the indoor unit and then transferred to the heating network via the condenser.
The indoor unit is factory equipped with hydraulic components such as a 3-way diverter valve, secondary pump and heat pump control unit.
As with other heating systems, the indoor unit, thanks to its compact size, can be installed in a basement or utility room. The unit is supplied from the factory with all necessary components. The outdoor unit can be mounted on the building’s exterior wall or installed separately on the ground outside.
The Vitocal 100-S is available in several versions to suit different requirements. It can be used as a pure heat pump for central heating and hot water production, with an active cooling function for a pleasant room temperature during the summer months, or with an integrated instantaneous hot water heater.
The electrical components operate at very low power. A high-efficiency secondary circuit circulation pump is standard. When operating at partial load, the compressor precisely adjusts to actual heat demand using modulation. This maintains the temperature required for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water. When combined with a photovoltaic system, the self-generated energy can be used to operate a heat pump.
The optional Vitoconnect 100 WiFi module allows the Vitocal 100-S air-source heat pump to be controlled online. The free Vitotrol app allows convenient control of many functions, such as temperature and party mode, from your smartphone.
When it comes to modernization, a split heat pump is ideal for efficient dual-mode operation. This allows the existing system to remain operational to cover peak loads during particularly cold temperatures.
