Our approach to sustainability is evident in our purpose: we create living space for future generations. We have always been committed to positive change and focused on real innovation and climate solutions. Curiosity and the courage to explore new paths are an integral part of our corporate culture.
Our climate strategy has evolved into our "net zero" priority area as part of our sustainability strategy. Find out more about our current progress in the Viessmann Sustainability Report 2023. We published this information in our Viessmann Sustainability Report 2023. The report is available for download on the Viessmann Climate Solutions website.
Looking at the urgency of climate change and Viessmann's tradition of embracing change, it is clear that we can and must do more to create sustainable heating, ventilation and cooling solutions for everyone. We can and must do more to make our own companies sustainable. We can and must do more to bring about a systemic change towards zero-emission buildings. We want to achieve this through our "LEAP to Net Zero" climate strategy, which we have developed based on scientific frameworks such as the Greenhouse Gas Protocolls and the Science Based Targets Initiative.
The energy consumption of our buildings currently accounts for up to 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The population of our planet is growing rapidly and has now reached 8 billion people who need resources in the form of energy, materials, water, food and other goods. This leads to stress and strain on natural systems, while the rise of urbanization and the growth of large cities require more resources for construction and maintenance. It is expected that by 2030, 5.5 billion people will live in cities. Thus, the construction sector undoubtedly plays an important role in keeping these developments within planetary boundaries and achieving systemic change. And with our Viessmann climate strategy "LEAP to Net Zero", we have taken the first step towards solving this much-needed systemic change.
LEAP is our ambitious plan to align our actions with global climate goals. This plan is based on four pillars: leadership, empowerment, advocacy, and partner ("LEAP"). Together with our partners and stakeholders, we want to take a leap, a giant step forward, to reach Net Zero in our own operations and in the systems in which we are integrated.
Viessmann stands for climate protection. Simply by replacing old boilers, our customers reduce CO2 emissions by 500,000 tonnes per year. Viessmann is expanding its commitment with #ViMoveForClimate.
Heat pumps are the first choice for those who want to reduce heating costs and generate heat in a more environmentally friendly way. After all, the environment provides heating with heat pumps with an unlimited and free supply of the energy needed.
The search for sustainable solutions - this applies both to our products and to all areas of the company's activities. More resilience for future generations.
